A great deal of NEW information, including a potential State Trust Land initiative for the November
ballot that might preserve much of this area, is available from the Coalition for Sonoran Desert
Protection at:
A well-researched article by Saddlebrooke resident, Robert Simpson, concerning the impact
of Arroyo Grande on our local wells is now posted at:
All discussions around the Arroyo Grande development invariably come down to WATER, its availability
and quality. Barry Richards has put up a well-researched page of information and links concerned with these issues at:
For those of you who would like to send a "letter of concern" regarding the Arroyo Grande Conceptual Plan (see the News
page for information regarding the plan), I'm posting a letter which can be copied and sent to the Arizona State
officials responsible for the final decision.
If you choose to print it, it would be best to highlight just the letter and then use the "selection" option on your
print program. Otherwise, your print copy will include all the text on the webpage. But if that's the best you
can do....don't worry about it. It's the volume of signed letters received that will have the impact.
The bulk of this letter was composed by Hank Rowe, with a few minor changes and additions by others. Those of us
who have attended various public meetings about the plan feel that this letter addresses the many concerns expressed
by local residents.
It would be best to send individual letters in envelopes addressed to each of the members of the State Selection Board
whose information appears at the top of the letter.
The letter can be found here:
A few signs worded, "Stop Arroyo Grande", have appeared around Catalina recently. The sign includes 2 website
addresses: www.azlands.uswww.azwater.us
Both websites have detailed information concerning the issues of water availability for this area and state trust land.
